Beer, wine, and liquor

Beer was consumed by the gallons.

Beer and alcohol were staples at the End of the Pavement.

Drinking liquor from a bottle

Pass the bottle

Terry, Cecil, and Keith drank liquor straight from the bottle in 1983. Some people drank a lot of booze, others never drank a drop, a few pitched a drunk once or twice a year, while the majority just sipped on beer or wine. A few of us were teetotalers and a few were alcoholics. This made things interesting -- and at times a little sad.

Cella Lambrusco

A half-full Pepsi, an unopened Budweiser beer, and an empty bottle of Cella Lambrusco sat on my toolbox at the End of the Pavement.

Paul and Tina with a bottle of wine

Paul and Tina were the wine connoisseurs of the bunch.

They made delicious homemade wines and shared many a bottle with us. Paul and Tina were always smiling -- not just from the alcohol but because they were genuinely happy people

Janice

I wasn't really guzzling that Peach Schnapps -- just trying to look cool for the picture.

Janice drinking tequila

Drinking tequila

It was 1979 and I was drinking tequila. Once again, trying to look cool. Being cool was my goal in life until I hit my mid-thirties.

I was with Bush and Jeff in Ethel Fox's yard. Jeff was fixing to hand me that plastic lemon full of fake juice. Joe was probably taking the picture.

Jagermeister

Hambone shares his bottle of Jagermeister

This stuff was made from herbs but it tasted like cough syrup.

Teresa looked serene amongst the noise and excitement. Ab was fixing to take a shot of liquor as Sherry and Phil looked on.

This was the evidence that beer drinkers hung out at the EOP.

Drinking whiskey from a pint bottle

Anthony takes a drink

He was drinking rot-gut liquor that the bootleggers used to sell for $10 a pint. We were at my house on Pleasant Grove Church Road -- Marion Chamber's old place which no longer exists.

Cecil, Tim, and Blazer at the End of the Pavement -- I bet their bottles were hid!
