Larry never bossed anyone around -- but he did keep an eye on everything that was happening. Nothing ever got past him and we all respected his opinion.
Larry was not an easy person to get to know. He never talked much about himself or his home life except to brag about his daughter now and then.
We all knew he had a beautiful and smart wife -- she came around every now and then when things were quiet. I do not think Carol liked loud, rowdy parties -- I never saw her at one.
Wheeling and dealing came naturally to Larry. I saw him sell everything from cars and trucks to pocket knives and silver dollars.
Larry was a natural salesman. He did it for the money but also because he loved making a good deal.
Some men bad-mouthed their women but we never heard anything disrespectful from Larry.
Something was funny because they are all laughing. Someone was probably up to something foolish.
We never let Natalie's feet touch the ground! Women and men passed her around like a royal princess. Carol had her in this photo but she belonged to Brenda and Jimmy.
This precious little girl got to ride around in a wagon at the End of the Pavement.
See the wheels page for more pictures of babies in wagons.
Larry was a good looking man with high cheekbones. Probably like most of us, there was some Cherokee in his bloodline.
Mrs. Hockey? She was a good looking woman from Hiawassee.
It took a few years for me to get to know Larry, but once I did, I realized he was smart, witty, and kind-hearted. I was happy to call him a friend.
