He could tell a funny joke and always got the punch line just right. Jerry had perfect timing - in his sense of humor and in his personal life.
Jerry and Sharon made a good match and we were all very happy that they got together. It was one example of the time being right.
Hershel, Jerry's dad, owned the End of the Pavement for years. So did Grady and Larry.
People drove by, stopped to sit in the shade, enjoyed picnics, and maybe threw a game of horseshoes.
The old timers told all kinds of stories about things that happened around these parts. There were stories about Indian ghosts, chunks of gold, rolling whip snakes, and gigantic fireballs shooting from the sky.
Then there were other tales of making moonshine, racing hot rods, and running with wild women. You might believe them or you might not.
I think Gwen was a little off balance with Jerry hugging her so tight. They almost looked like brother and sister! Maybe it was the red plaid shirts.
These two boys were Jerry's sons. We saw them almost every weekend with their dad. They grew up at the End of the Pavement.
Jerry loved his boys. John was the oldest, a handsome young man.
I think one was always trying to outdo the other -- especially when it came to telling stories and entertaining their friends. Never a dull moment!
Jerry E was a young man in this picture -- sometime around 1980.
Later on, he shaved and got rid of the beard.
Cheryl's lap was full with Jerry's two big boys. She is John and Matt's mother.
